Letter from Town Supervisor Marybeth Majestic
Letter from the Town Supervisor:
March 1st, 2024
It's hard to believe that winter is almost over, and spring is right around the corner.
In the first 2 months of the year, we have been busy here on the Town Board.
Here’s a minor recap, but if you would like to learn more about anything, please reach out to me and I will provide you with the information available to me.
Launched a new town website
Installed a new kiosk on the rail trail in the hamlet
Adopted a local law that increases the income limits for Senior Citizens for exemptions on appraisals
Hired an attorney, engineer, hydrologist and created a committee to review the proposed trucking terminal/warehouse in the Town of Plattekill
Had a presentation by Kai Lord-Farmer of the Ulster County Planning Department on housing issues
Currently we are in the process of converting our financial management system
Working diligently with the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer on fee and fine schedules along with enforcement matters
Set a public hearing for March 5th on the truck engine brake law for Steve’s Lane, Dusinberre Road and Phillies Bridge Road
Continuing to work on the Streetlight Conversion with the New York Power Authority
Continue to keep our boards staffed and looking to fill vacancies on the Environmental Conservation Commission, the Ethics Review Board and our new Housing Advisory Committee.
There is a whole lot more that we handled, and there is always more work to do.
Please take time to participate in local town matters by attending meetings or volunteering for a committee.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Marybeth Majestic
Town Supervisor
